I grew up sailing in Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo, on Ireland’s wild northwest coast. With a family full of sea lovers, I sailed before I could crawl. At just four months old, I had my first trip on the Atlantic aboard a converted lifeboat, Manora, thanks to a few adventurous uncles who conveniently downplayed the risks to my mum!

At six, I was handed the helm of an 8ft dinghy, but it was a family trip to the Caribbean that truly hooked me. A breezy sail on a Sparkman & Stephens 28 had me grinning from ear to ear—I knew this was my game.

Though I drifted from sailing as a teenager, the call of the sea never left. After working in media and tech, I found myself racing yachts in New Zealand, learning from some of the best. That experience, along with years of trans-oceanic voyages and time in offshore seismic exploration, shaped my journey.

Looking back, Wild West Sailing was inevitable. Now, I’m back in the West of Ireland, doing what I love—sharing my skills, experience, and passion for the sea with all of you!
